As the campaign of terror launched by the militias of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Syria continues unabated, PYD elements last week kidnapped two members of the political bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party – Syria in the city of Hasaka. The incident came three days after these militias kidnapped three members of the Kurdish National Council (KNC) (a key components of the Syrian Coalition) as well as journalists and correspondents. The fate of those abducted is still unknown.
The Syrian Coalition condemns these serious repressive practices and violations as it reiterates perpetrators must be held to account.
The Coalition renews calls on the parties supporting these militias involved in violence and terrorism, especially against the Kurdish National Council and its components, to reconsider their positions and pressure these militias to stop their criminal practices. It stresses that these actions run against the aspirations of the Syrians and are detrimental to their interests.
