Syrian National Coalition – Syria
Department of Media and Communications
August 10, 2019
The Syrian National Coalition congratulates the Syrian people as well as our Arab and Islamic nation on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. In these blessed days, we pay tribute to our fallen heroes whose blood watered the soil of our beloved homeland. We ask Allah to bestow forgiveness and mercy on them and to award them with the highest places in heaven.
Eid al-Adha comes at a time when our hearts are contorted with pain for our detainees in the custody of the murderous Assad regime and for those who died under brutal torture inside the regime’s dungeons. These atrocities are yet to trigger appropriate action by the international community which has so far remained silent despite the tens of thousands of documents and photos confirming these crimes.
While we observe this day, the wounds of our people are still bleeding. Our people are still being subjected to barbaric bombings and relentless shelling at the hands of the Assad regime, resulting in more mass displacement and aggravating the suffering of the IDPs.
On this day, we reaffirm our commitment to the defense of the rights of our people who refuse to surrender despite the most heinous crimes that have been taking place against them for more than eight years with the help and direct involvement of Russia and Iran. These two countries have become occupying countries as they have overall control over the decisions of the institutions of the Syrian state.
We express the deepest appreciation and respect for our fighters on the front lines as we highly commend their heroism and courage in the destruction of the myth of the Russian military machine. Our heroes have also foiled Russia’s goals and plans for the imposition of a bloody military solution on the Syrian people and have prevented attempts to rehabilitate the Assad regime which has long lost its legitimacy having committed wholesale crime crimes and squandered the country’s resources and left the country in ruins and displaced its people.
As we reaffirm our firm belief in the right of the Syrian people to a dignified, safe and stable life, we reaffirm our commitment to the principles of the Syrian Revolution and the just demands of our people for freedom, dignity and democracy. We also stress the need for the international community to shoulder its responsibilities with regards to the protection of civilians and stand by the Syrian people until they achieve their future aspirations for a better, prosperous future for them and their children.
On this occasion, we congratulate all spectrums and components of the Syrian people. We stress the importance of cohesion and cooperation as we hope that our pain will end with the release of all detainees and missing persons as well as the return of refugees and displaced persons to their areas of origin. We hope that by next Eid, the aspirations of the Syrian people have been achieved, namely the removal of occupation and tyranny as well as the establishment of a state that is based on freedom and justice.
