The brotherly Turkish people have concluded, once again, a successful chapter in Turkey’s domestic politics. For more than 10 years, the Turkish people have demonstrated they could democratically choose their own representatives through the ballot box. They have proved able to choose those who they believe are the right people to lead Turkey towards more political, social, and economic development.
The Syrian Coalition, on behalf of the Syrian people, congratulates the brotherly Turkish people on the success of the electoral process. The Coalition applauds the choices the Turkish people made, bringing about the victory of the Justice and Development Party (AKP), which is led by Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Coalition also congratulates candidates of the other political parties who have won in the municipal elections.
The Syrian Coalition extends its appreciation to the people and government of Turkey for all of the support they have provided during the past three years. The relationship between the Turkish and Syrian peoples is a special one, and it will continue to be so.
The Syrian people are looking forward to the day when they can democratically choose their own representatives after ridding the country of the Assad regime. They look forward to building a free democratic and prosperous Syria that provides justice and equality to all of its citizens.
May our wounded recover, our detainees be free, and our fallen heroes rest in peace.
