The Syrian National Coalition welcomes the humanitarian emergency initiative proposed by the European Union to deliver aid to the besieged neighborhoods in Aleppo.
The Syrian Coalition fully supports the initiative which was announced on Sunday, Oct 2nd, in a joint statement by the EU foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini and EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides.
The Free Syrian Army stands ready to facilitate the implementation of the initiative in all liberated areas, including the areas besieged by the Assad regime forces and their allied militias.
The Syrian Coalition stresses the need for unrestricted humanitarian access to all areas and without any interference from regime forces and their allied militias. The plan should be carried out in coordination with the United Nations to ensure the delivery of aid through the concerned humanitarian organizations.
The Syrian Coalition also supports EU calls for unconditional evacuation of the wounded and sick from Eastern Aleppo as well as those in urgent need of medical care as a result of the ongoing bombing campaign by the Assad regime and Russian air force on the besieged neighborhoods.
It is time for the international community to realize that partial solutions will not contribute to the stopping of killing or the alleviation of the suffering of civilians. It is, therefore, imperative to exert pressure on the Assad regime and its Russian ally to ensure full implementation of the cessation of hostilities agreement (CoH); the end of killing and destruction; and laying out the groundwork for a political solution in line with UN Security Council resolutions; a solution that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people.
May our wounded recover, our detainees be free, and our fallen heroes rest in peace.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
