The Syrian Coalition reaffirms that all projects aimed at circumventing the will of the Syrian people are illegitimate and that any outcome such projects may produce will be null and void.
In this respect, the Coalition refers to the so-called elections the Democratic Union Party (PYD) insists on organizing with the aim of serving its projects in Syria using tactics inspired by the Assad regime, such as intimidation, pressure and threats against the Syrian people.
The Coalition underscores that any step taken towards shaping the future of Syria must respect the right of the Syrian people to freedom of choice and determine their future without interference or dictation.
The insistence on marketing such pre-emptive choices with the use of force and coercion at such timing whether under the title of local or municipal elections or any other title violates the right of the Syrian people to self-determination to freely determine their future. Such steps are clear attempts to circumvent the Syrian people’s long struggle for freedom and dignity.
