Syrian Coalition
Istanbul, Turkey
June 16, 2013
After a year of heavy attack from the Assad regime, the steadfast city of Deir Ezzor has defended the region, against Assad’s elite fighters, with determination and courage.
In the midst of heavy bombardments, in Deir Ezzor and surrounding areas, rebel forces are fighting neighborhood by neighborhood to free the region from Assad and his criminal militias. The Free Syrian Army is unyielding and continues to advance in neighborhoods like Al-Sana’a and Rashidiya. However, even with these brazen advances, the humanitarian situation is deteriorating in the city, due to the horrible conditions imposed on civilians. Practical solutions are required immediately to halt further tragedy.
The Syrian Coalition renews its call to the international community to act through the Security Council and create a binding resolution to stop the bloodshed in Syria, secure humanitarian corridors to areas under siege and support the Syrian revolution for freedom and democracy.
We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
