The Assad regime forces have carried a series of deadly attacks and violations of the Idlib agreement in the past few hours, targeting many villages and towns in rural Idlib and Hama. At least seven people were killed and many were injured in violent artillery shelling on the village of Um Jalal near the town of Al-Taman’a in rural Idlib on Thursday.
Following years of bombardment, killing and displacement by the Assad regime forces and their allies, and amid insistence on keeping the bloodbath against women, children and civilians, the total inaction of the international community continues. The international community continues to turn a blind eye to the tragic reality on the ground caused by the constant, indiscriminate bombings by the Assad regime forces and the Iranian militias with Russian help and in violation of the Idlib agreement.
The Coalition renews its condemnation of attacks violating the existing agreements as it reminds the international community of its responsibility to maintain the safety and security of civilians. We also stress the need for urgent action to save women and children in Idlib and to prevent further civilian deaths. The goals of the regime and its backers have long been exposed, namely to disrupt the political solution and provide cover for the remnants of terrorism by keeping the situation ablaze.
