The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Bassma Kodmani, a prominent academic and passionate advocate for the rights of the Syrian people. Kodmani passed away in Paris, France on Thursday after battling an illness.
Kodmani was a shining example of a Syrian woman dedicated to the fight for justice and freedom. She authored numerous books and articles and played a key role in the establishment of the Syrian National Council. She remained active in various institutions and activities throughout the Syrian Revolution, drawing upon her extensive experience as an academic and writer specializing in Middle Eastern research and development.
The SOC expresses its heartfelt condolences to Kodmani’s family, loved ones, and all who were touched by her life and work. We pray that God may grant her mercy and forgiveness, and that she may find peace in her eternal rest.
