Press Statement
Syrian Coalition
Istanbul, Turkey
November 21, 2013
The Syrian Coalition calls for intensified international efforts that will prevent the Assad regime’s infringement of international conventions to go unchecked as it continues to use conventional and unconventional weapons in its war against the Syrian people.
Assad’s forces targeted al-Walid hospital in al-Waer neighborhood in Homs on Monday, November 18, killing at least 10 people including members of the medical staff as well as patients and wounded civilians.
Since it seized power in a military coup, the Assad regime, father and son, decided to adopt a criminal policy of revenge against the social base for any opposition against its rule.
The growing violence, we are witnessing now on the ground, could only mean that the regime remains unwilling to seek a political solution to the crisis in Syria. It is merely stalling for time, taking advantage of the inaction of the international community, which failed to maintain international peace and security.
The Syrian people will continue to struggle against the Assad regime, Hezbollah’s militias, and Abu al-Fadel al-Abbas’s Iraqi mercenaries.
The Syrian people will pursue all legitimate means to achieve their demands of freedom and dignity, and force those foreign occupation forces out of the Syrian territory.
We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
