Press Statement
Syrian Coalition
Istanbul, Turkey
November 28, 2013
On November 27, Assad’s forces fired a Scud missile at one of the ancient markets in the province of Raqqa killing around 35 civilians and wounding dozens. The Assad regime continues to target civilian areas with all types of weapons, including ballistic missiles. The international community should not allow Assad’s criminal practices to go unchallenged.
The Assad regime’s latest crimes, in addition to its recent unrealistic statements on Geneva, prove it does not want a peaceful political solution in Syria, whereby power will be handed to a transitional governing body. Unless the international community realizes the urgent need to take necessary measures to restrain the regime, it will only continue to kill and destroy, and further jeopardize the stability and security of the whole region.
We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
