Alabdah: Opposition’s Executive Framework Sets out Clear Path to Political Transition in Syria
President of the Syrian Coalition Anas Alabdah said that the executive framework the Syrian opposition agreed on "sets out a clear path for political transition in Syria.” He pointed out that anyone supporting a political solution should not reject the executive framework.
Alabdah and Riad Hijab, General Coordinator of the opposition’s High Negotiations Committee (HNC) will reveal details of the executive framework during a meeting of foreign countries of friendly countries due to be held in London on Wednesday.
The London meeting will discuss the forced displacement policy the Assad regime peruses against residents of besieged areas to bring about a demographic change in Syria. The meeting will also discuss the situation in the besieged areas, the continued use of internationally banned weapons by the regime and its allies, and the regime’s refusal to release detainees.
Alabdah reiterated rejection of giving Assad any role to play in the transitional period or in the future of Syria, reaffirming commitment to the guidelines of the Syrian revolution on which the Syrian opposition based its vision for a political solution in Syria.
The executive framework has been laid out in accordance with international resolutions on Syria, Alabdah said, adding that it aims to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people and achieve their aspirations for freedom and dignity.
Alabdah stressed that the opposition’s plan for a solution has been drawn out to serve the interests of all Syrians; help the Syrian people regain their rights; bring about political transition; and contribute to the fight against terrorism. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
