Spokesman for the opposition’s High Negotiations Committee (HNC) Salem al-Meslet said that Russia is directly involved in the massacres the Assad regime is perpetrating in Aleppo.
In an interview with Al-Jazeera channel on Sunday, Meslet said that instead of putting pressure on the Assad regime to stop its atrocious crimes in Aleppo, the Russians are aiding and abetting such crimes.
The “bloody messages” the Assad regime is sending from Aleppo are yet further proof it does not want a political solution, he added.
Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir on Sunday described the brutal bombardment by regime forces for nine consecutive days on Aleppo despite the truce agreement a as war crime and a crime against humanity.
Dozens gathered in front of the White House in Washington, DC, on Sunday to protest against bombing civilians in Aleppo by Russia and the Assad regime.
Demonstrators, mostly Syrian-Americans, held up placards reading: “Aleppo is being burnt down,” Syria is free,” and long live Syria!” They also held a vigil outside the White House, writing “Save Aleppo” on the ground using candles.
Demonstrators called upon the US President Barack Obama and international organizations to take action to stop the war crimes taking place in Aleppo. (Source: Syrian Coalition + Agencies)
