The Syrian Coalition called upon the United Nations, the UN Security Council, and governments of friendly countries to provide urgent and immediate protection to civilians in areas under attack by the terrorist group called ISIS and the murderous Assad regime.
In a press release issued earlier today, the Coalition said that “the arming of the Free Syrian Army to counter ISIS and the Assad regime is a must. The fight against terrorism in all its forms cannot achieve its goals in Syria without supporting the FSA, which has proved, before any other group, and on many occasions, that it is the most capable force to protect civilians and defeat terror.”
By tightening the siege on the town of Marea in rural Aleppo earlier on Saturday, ISIS is employing similar policies to those adopted by the Assad regime which uses sieges of towns and cities as a weapon of war, the Coalition added.
The Coalition added: “Hundreds of thousands of Syrians in dozens of areas across Syria have been enduring unspeakable suffering as a result of suffocating blockades imposed by regime forces for nearly five years.”
Russian warplanes and the Assad regime’s jets continue to target civilians, including with cluster bombs, the Coalition said. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
