The Syrian Coalition calls for taking immediate action to relieve civilians and the wounded in the besieged district of Douma. The Syrian Coalition urges the enforcement of UN Security Council Resolution 2165 which calls for delivering humanitarian aid to the besieged areas without the need for permission from the Assad regime.
“The Assad regime and the Iranian occupiers’ air strikes on the town have caused a humanitarian disaster as they have left hundreds of civilians injured, of whom nearly 300 need urgent surgeries that cannot be performed under siege. We call for immediately delivering medical supplies and the necessary equipment to Douma to treat the wounded or that they are evacuated to safe places where surgeries can be performed.”
The Syrian Coalition also calls for the enforcement of the UN Security Council resolution 2139 that prohibits the use of barrel bombs and indiscriminate weapons in residential areas, for immediately and seriously lifting the siege imposed by the Iranian militias and Assad’s mercenaries, and for delivering relief aid to trapped civilians.
“While Assad’s sole response to the rebels’ gains is more atrocious crimes against unarmed civilians, it seeks to impede diplomatic activity aimed at the creation of safe areas for which civilians to resort. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
