The Syrian Coalition said that regime forces had arrested approximately 500 civilians, mostly women and children, in the village of Sefat north of Aleppo. Pro-Assad militants and their allied sectarian militias stormed the village on the last day of Eid al-Adha, amid reports of mass rapes of women according to activists in the area. Salem al-Meslet, spokesman for the Syrian Coalition, described the arrest and mass rape as “a mean cowardly act, calling for the immediate release of all detainees. The Syrian Coalition warns that the Assad regime’s ongoing atrocities together with the international anti-ISIS alliance’s ignoring of Assad’s atrocities would backfire and even lead to new individuals or groups to join the terrorist groups.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
