Syrian Coalition Rejects PYD Plan to Partition Syria

The Syrian Coalition stresses its “outright rejection of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party’s (PYD) announcement that it had appointed governors for Al Jazeerah province, a move that complements the Party’s autonomy project in northeastern Syria. This move threatens the unity and integrity of the Syrian territories, and is also a return to the partition plan which was first crafted by the French during their occupation of Syria." The Syrian Coalition “hails the rebellious population, whether Arabs and Kurds, in al-Hasakah province and in Al Jazeera in general,” and expresses its full confidence that “they all will stand in the face of any attempts to sow discord and division among the components of the Syrian society. We reaffirm our full commitment to preserving the unity and integrity of the Syrian territory, and to empowering the Syrian people to achieve the goals of the revolution and the transition to a democratic political system where all Syrians live free and with honor.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
