Ahmad Jarba, president of the Syrian Coalition, thanks the Lebanese leader Walid Jumblatt and the journalist Fares Khashan for their positions that support the Syrian people and its just causes, stressing that “the Syrians will never forget the support given by the Lebanese brothers to the Syrian people.” Jarba also denounces the Assad regime’s false accusations against Jumblatt and Khashan who the Assad regime accused them of “harming the prestige of the Syrian state. The Lebanese judiciary has received two subpoenas from the Syrian embassy in Beirut requesting Jumblatt and journalist Fares Khashan to appear before a Syrian court on June 1st. A Lebanese source also said that the Lebanese Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi referred the request of the Assad regime to the legislation committee in the Ministry for consultation.” It is worth noting that the Druze leader Walid Jumblatt is one of the prominent Lebanese figures, while Khashan is renowned journalist whose writings and statements strongly criticize the Assad regime.
