The Syrian Coalition has begun a three-day meeting today in Istanbul to elect new governing body, composed of the president and his deputies, the Secretary General and the political committee. The president and the General Secretariat will submit a full report on their previous term in office. The meeting will also review the financial reports and will discuss proposals for amendments to the regulations and rules of the Coalition. On the last day of the meeting, the Coalition’s members will discuss the military and political situation, and also to discuss the decision of the Interim Prime Minister Ahmed Tomeh about the dismissal of the FSA’s Chief of Staff and the Supreme Military Council. The political committee has already considered this decision as outside the powers of the Interim Prime Minister, and that only the Syrian Coalition has the mandate to issue such decisions. At the end of the meeting on Tuesday, Coalition’s members will discuss a paper submitted by the female members who demand the expansion of women’s representation in the Syrian Coalition.
