The Syrian National Coalition’s Department of Foreign Relations on Tuesday held an emergency meeting to prepare the launch of an Arab and international relations campaign aimed at mobilizing support for Idlib and ensuring an end to the Russian and Assad regime’s onslaught on northwestern Syria.
Coordinator of the Department, Abdulahad Astepho, is set to meet with European Union officials in the Belgian capital, Brussels on Wednesday. He will hand them letters and legal memos prepared by the Syrian National Coalition calling for an end to the bombings in Idlib and the protection of civilians. The letters also contain documentation of the crimes the Russian and Assad regime forces are committing in the region.
A delegation headed by the Coalition’s Vice-President Dima Moussa will meet with UN and US officials in New York to inform them of the latest developments in Idlib province and convey the Coalition’s demands to them, namely that they assume their legal responsibilities with regard to the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions on the establishment of a ceasefire and protection of civilians.
Another Coalition delegation headed by the Secretary-General Abdel Baset Abdel Latif will travel to Paris on Friday to meet senior officials of the French Foreign Ministry and urge swift political and humanitarian measures with regard to the grave situation in Idlib.
The delegation will also visit Berlin to meet with officials of the German Foreign Ministry with the aim of mobilizing support for the Syrian people and ensuring an end to the Russian and the Assad regime’s intensifying onslaught on Idlib.
The Department stressed the need for the international community to shoulder its responsibilities with regard to putting an end to the crimes taking place against civilians in Idlib. (Source: Syrian National Coalition’s Media Department)
