Head of the Syrian Interim Government, Abdurrahman Mustafa, stressed the need for compliance with the instructions and decisions SIG is issuing to confront the coronavirus pandemic. He pointed out that the decisions SIG is issuing has so far helped prevent an outbreak of the pandemic in the freed territories.
Mustafa added that SIG is dealing with the issue with complete transparency as crucial to “saving our people from the danger of this deadly virus that continues to spread and claim lives in various countries around the world.” He added: We rely on the awareness of our people in all regions to ensure the safety of everyone.”
Mustafa indicated that all the suspected cases in the freed territories tested negative, noting that the Ministry of Health is continuing its work to conduct more tests and follow up on the suspected cases.
SIG issued a decision extending the shutdown of internal crossing points until further notice. The closure was due to end on Thursday.
Mustafa said that the move aims to prevent the spread of the virus in the freed territories in view of the outbreak of the pandemic among the Iranian and Lebanese militias in the regime-held areas. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
