A Syrian Coalition delegation headed by President Khoja concluded a visit to Saudi Arabia on Monday, during which they held meetings with Saudi Foreign Ministry officials.
The delegation briefed the Saudi officials on the latest developments on the ground in Syria and on the Syrian Coalition’s new work plan as well as on the needs of the Syrian Coalition and the interim government to carry out their work plans and projects.
President Khaled Khoja points out that “Saudi Arabia is at the forefront of the countries providing support for the Syrian revolution and works ardently to help the Syrian people achieve their demands for freedom and dignity.”
Khoja points out that “the Assad regime has spent nearly $80 billion USD over the past four years in an attempt to quell the Syrian Revolution, not to mention the substantial support it receives from Iran whether in cash, weapons and men.”
He also said that “Iran is now effectively occupying Syria, and does not shy away from confirming the heavy presence of its militias and those of the Iranian-backed Hezbollah in Syria and the role they play to keep Assad in power. We raised this issue during meetings with the Saudi officials, who reaffirmed support for the Syrian revolution.”
“We are in agreement with our Saudi brothers that Assad is the source of terrorism in Syria and the region and that any political solution to the crisis must lead to the removal of Assad and his security apparatuses and to the formation of a transitional government body in accordance with the Geneva declaration.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
