In an interview with Arabi21 newspaper, Secretary General of the Syrian Coalition Yahya Maktabi criticizes lack of international consensus or the will stop the ongoing bloodbath in Syria, adding that the international community is still managing the crisis in Syria instead of taking the initiative to put an end to it.
Maktabi stresses that the Syrian Coalition and the Syrian Revolution will continue to rid Syria of tyranny, oppression, injustice, extremism and terrorism, “Having paid a heavy price and made enormous sacrifices, the Syrian people will not give up their demands for freedom and dignity and the removal of Bashar al-Assad and his murderous regime.”
“While the Friends of the Syrian people continue to provide minimum support for the Syrian Coalition and for the Syrian people in general, Assad’s allies, namely Iran and Russia have been deluging the Assad regime with unlimited support the political, military, and economic levels. This has helped the Assad regime appear as a cohesive entity and work as a state while in fact it has morphed into a militia headed by Bashar al-Assad.”
Maktabi described the People’s Protection Units (YPG) as a radical extremist group that seek to achieve its own project, pointing to the many reports about its oppressive practices against against Arabs, Kurds, Assyrians and other social components. “The National Council Kurdish, our partners in the Syrian Coalition and in the national project, share with us our support for the revolution and rejection of all forms of extremis. They are also committed to the unity of Syria and to working together to build a democratic multi-party state, where all citizens are equal in rights and duties.”
He stressed that attempts to divide Syria are doomed to fail. However, if the YPG changes its policies and dissociates from the Assad regime, they will be welcomed as part of the Syrian revolution. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
