Member of the Syrian Coalition Salem al-Meslet said that the Supreme Negotiating Committee formed after the Riyadh conference is the one authorized to form the negotiating delegation.
Meslet said that “the Supreme Negotiating Committee is committed to the closing statement of the Riyadh conference which brought together the whole spectrum of the Syrian opposition.” Meslet made it clear that the committee has already formed a negotiating delegation and an advisory body and will not accept the inclusion of other names at the request of third parties.
Meslet pointed out that “Russia is not a neutral side as it is a partner to Assad’s daily massacres against the Syrian people. Russia therefore cannot play a mediating role and should instead tend to the formation of the Assad regime’s negotiating delegation.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
