Member of the Syrian Coalition’s political committee Fuad Aliko said that the Democratic Union Party (PYD) could not claim to be a representative of the Syrian Kurds, especially after the attacks its militias have recently launched against rebel-held areas under Russian aerial cover.
Aliko described the PYD as a proxy organization whose actions do not serve the Kurds’ national interests but those of the Assad regime and Russia in Syria and the region.
Aliko cited the remarks made yesterday by the Assad regime’s ambassador to the UN, Bashar Jaafari, who said that the PYD militia’s latest progress in northern Aleppo is a “joint victory with the regime’s army” and who acknowledged that the PYD receives military support from the Assad regime.
“Jaafari’s statements are further proof that the PYD’s practices are alien to the Kurdish national project and hostile to the Syrian revolution,” Aliko added. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
