President of the Syrian Coalition Anas al-Abdah said that the Coalition has set out plans to increase support for development projects inside Syria to bring normal life and stability back to liberated areas. Abdah also said that the Coalition has taken advantage of the relative calm in Syria resulting from the “cessation of hostilities” agreement.
Abdah was speaking during a meeting with the management of the Assistance Coordination Unit (ACU) in Gaziantep on Thursday. The ACU management gave an overview of the development and medical projects being implemented in Syria in partnership with local councils and departments of service across liberated areas.
The projects included an anti-polio vaccination campaign which has been carried out in the provinces of Aleppo, Idlib, Hama, Latakia, Deir Ezzor, Raqqa and Al-Hasaka. They also included a vaccination program against measles which has been carried out in two stages in the towns of Azaz and Jisr al-Shughur.
Supervisors of the ACU-run Early Warning and Response to Epidemics program gave an overview of the program in northern Syria. ACU also gave an overview of the Winter Kit campaign and of a new program aimed at assessing the needs of civilians in liberated areas. Moreover, ACU gave an overview of the “Wheat” program, which aims to provide subsidized flour for liberated areas at a fixed affordable price.
The Coalition will be meeting tomorrow with a delegation of representatives of provincial councils and a visit to Syrian refugee camps along the Syrian-Turkish border will be arranged. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
