Activists said that at least 28 civilians were killed in airstrikes by regime forces on rural Idlib and rural Homs over the past 24 hours.
Assad regime warplanes bombed the town of Khan Alsebel on Friday morning, killing 8 people, including 2 children and 4 women, and wounding 10 more. Regime airstrikes also hit the town of Sinjar in rural Idlib earlier today, with no reports of casualties.
Regime helicopters on late Thursday dropped barrel bombs on the towns of Taldo and Kafr Laha in Alhoula area, killing 13 people and wounding dozens more. Three severely injured children underwent amputation, while the rest of the wounded were taken to a field hospital in the nearby town of Alrastan. Activists said that the field hospital in Alhoula, under-equipped and understaffed, could not treat severe injuries.
Friday prayers in the area were today cancelled for fear of constant bombardment by regime forces.
Five people, including 3 children, were killed and 15 more were wounded in regime airstrikes on the town of Alrastan on Thursday, while 13 more, including children, were killed in similar attacks on the town on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) concluded its meeting in Vienna on Tuesday without setting a date for the resumption of the Geneva negotiations which were stalled after the opposition’s High Negotiations Committee suspended its participation in the negotiations in protest to the repeated violations of the truce by the Assad regime and its allies. The parties involved in the meeting pledged to revive the ceasefire.
Following the meeting, US Secretary of State John Kerry said that the ISSG agreed that if a party to the cessation of hostilities agreement does not comply, it can be reported to the monitoring group and be excluded from the peace process. (Source: Syrian Coalition + Agencies)
