The Syrian Coalition congratulated members of the Assyrian Democratic Organization for the release of Gabriel Moushe Qorriya, head of the Political Bureau of Assyrian Democratic Organization who was detained by the Assad regime. Qorriya spent nearly two years and a half in Assad’s prisons.
The Coalition stressed that the Assad regime’s arrest of prisoners of conscience refutes it claims about seeking a political solution in Syria. The Coalition condemned arrest of political activists and dissidents.
The Coalition also called on international and human rights organizations to intervene immediately to ensure the safety of detainees in Assad’s prisons; many of them are women and children who were detained by the Assad regime to put pressure on their relatives and the revolution’s social base.
