Activists in western rural Aleppo said that at least 22 civilians were killed and many more injured in airstrikes by the Russian air force on the town of Kafar Naha on Friday. The activists said most of the victims were children and women.
Russian jets also raided the towns of Atareb, Khan Alassal, and Orem Alqubra despite Russia’s announcement of a “humanitarian pause” to the bombing campaign from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm on Friday.
Russia on Thursday openly threatened it would intensify its military operations in Aleppo should the FSA and rebel fighters refuse to leave the city. New Russian warships have recently arrived off the Syrian coast to be used in the ongoing onslaught on Aleppo.
In Rural Damascus, activists said that airstrikes hit the town of Douma in eastern Ghouta as well as the towns of Khan Alsheeh and Reihan in southwestern Rural Damascus as regime forces attempted to storm the area.
Idlib News Network, a group of local activists documenting victims of the aerial and ground bombardment by the Assad regime and Russian forces in Idlib province, said that no fewer than 240 civilians were killed in Russian and Assad regime airstrikes on the province during October. The victims included 41 children, 24 women, a doctor, and a media activist.
At least 89 airstrikes hit the province in October, including 24 with the use of cluster bombs as well as 7 with the use of white phosphorus and napalm, both internationally banned weapons. The Network said that 8 massacres resulted from these attacks.
