The National Commission for the Affairs of Detainees and Missing Persons submitted a report detailing its work and activities to the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) General Assembly in its 52nd meeting. The report focused on paying attention to the relationship with victims’ associations.
Head of the Commission, Yasser Al-Farhan, gave an overview on the Commission’s fruitful cooperation with female survivors from the Assad regime’s prisons, citing the virtual meetings the SOC held with female ex-detainees to listen to their testimonies; examine their conditions; and work to solve their problems.
Al-Farhan said that the SOC opened an office of legal affairs in rural Aleppo,, stressing the role of this office in ensuring accountability for the senior regime officials involved in war crimes against civilians in Syria.
He also stressed that the Commission will continue to cooperate with international investigation committees and United Nations mechanisms as well as send letters and legal notes to keep abreast of developments related to human rights in the country. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
