President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Nasr Al-Hariri, sent a letter to the Dutch Foreign Minister, Stef Blok, to thank his country’s role in holding war criminals accountable and preventing impunity.
The letter said: “I present to you my kindest regards and wish Your Excellency good health and well-being, along with success in defending the values of the free world and protecting human rights.”
Al-Hariri said that the SOC and the Syrian people appreciate the Dutch government’s initiative to hold accountable those responsible for torture in Syria as he expressed the SOC’s full support for the efforts to redress the victims; prevent impunity; and put an end to systematic, brutal torture and execution which represent pillars of the Assad regime’s strategy.
“Throughout our independent & specialized legal committees and the National Commission for the Affairs of Human Rights, Detainees and Missing Persons, we are quite keen to fully engage with your legal team, in order to share our information regarding accountability issues.”
Al-Hariri said that the SOC is looking forward to having a meeting with the Dutch FM to discuss prospects of joint cooperation to achieve the goals of this initiative. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
