The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) political committee on Thursday held its regular meeting to discuss the latest developments in Syria and review the reports of the SOC’s committees, offices, and departments.
SOC’s President Nasr Al-Hariri reviewed the results of the meetings the SOC held with Arab and Western representatives to the UN Security Council and heads of diplomatic missions to the United Nations on the sidelines of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.
Al-Hariri said that the meetings were positive and fruitful as they shed light on the reality of Syrian people and the political process, calling for mobilizing the necessary support for the cause of the Syrian people to regain freedom, dignity and democracy.
Vice-president Oqab Yahya talked about the work of the SOC’s Jazirah and Euphrates Committee and the ongoing preparations to hold a comprehensive conference for the eastern region with the aim of forming a body that represents the people of the region and their demands.
Vice-president Ruba Habboush gave an overview on the work of the Aleppo-based Offices of the Women and Youth Affairs as she stressed the importance of the work they are doing in the liberated areas.
The Office of Refugee Affairs provided an explanation on the latest developments with regards to the Syrian asylum seekers and refugees in Greece, Lebanon and Somalia. It said that Syrian asylum seekers in Greece continue to suffer racist attacks, adding that the lives of Syrian prisoners in Lebanon are still at serious risk due to the coronavirus outbreak inside Lebanese prisons.
