President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Nasr al-Hariri, sent two separate letters to President of UN General Assembly Ambassador Volkan Bozkır, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, representatives of UN General Assembly member states, President of UN Security Council Vasily Nebenzya, and representatives of Council Security member states regarding the terrorist bombing that targeted the town of Al-Bab in rural Aleppo on Tuesday.
“The terrorist bombing that took place on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, in the Syrian city of Al-Bab, in the countryside of Aleppo, killed nineteen people, including children and women, and severely injured nearly one hundred and eighteen people, most of them women and children, and caused terror among civilians in City, causing damage to buildings and property,” the letter said.
Al-Hariri said that “preliminary evidence indicates the involvement of the PYD – YPG / PKK militia in the Al-Bab terrorist operation. Such evidence is supported by evidence-based precedents, the planning, financing and implementation of these operations.”
“The PKK formations – with their various names – work in a professional, continuous and systematic manner, to target civilians in opposition areas, to obstruct efforts to build security, peace and stability in the region, and to thwart joint efforts in implementing rule of law standards and promoting human rights,” al-Hariri added.
He called for distributing the letter as a document of the UN General Assembly and Security Council and condemning the terrorist attack in Al-Bab and the hundreds of other operations in the liberated areas.
Al-Hariri also called for empowering the SOC to enable its institutions in the targeted areas to prevent and respond to terrorist attacks as well as supporting the SOC to implement the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
Moreover, Al-Hariri called for international informational, military and logistical cooperation to fight the PKK, ISIS, Al-Qaeda and other terrorist formations.
He stressed the need to stop the support provided to the PYD militia which is controlled by the terrorist PKK organization due to its use by its leaders in financing and carrying out terrorist operations, and in committing war crimes against the Syrian people.
He also called for taking the necessary measures to redress the victims of the aforementioned terrorist acts, and to hold those involved in them accountable. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
