President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition, Nasr Al-Hariri, visited the Karimat Organization in Kilis, southern Turkey, accompanied by Vice-president Ruba Habboush and members of the political committee Badr Jamous, Muhammad Yahya Maktabi and Yasser Al-Farhan.
The two sides stressed the importance of strengthening the role of civil society organizations in societal and human development and the need for the activities of Syrian organizations abroad to include the liberated areas. They also discussed cooperation between the SOC’s Women’s Office and Karimat Organization in order to support Syrian women at all levels.
Director of the Organization Najla Al-Sheikh gave an overview on their work in empowering Syrian women at the economic and educational levels as well as helping them adapt to the host communities and encouraging them to engage in the labor market and launch small businesses. Al-Sheikh also talked about the Organization’s programs, especially the activities, events and training courses it offers to Syrian women. She cited many success stories of Syrian women who, through the Karimat Organization, set up successful small businesses.
Al-Hariri commended the Organization’s role and its activities in looking after widowed women and those who lost their breadwinners as he emphasized the importance of these activities and their role in supporting this segment of society, offering them training on various skills; and integrating them into society.
Al-Hariri stressed that Syrian women actively participated in the Syrian revolution and made tremendous sacrifices as well as endured unspeakable suffering as a result of the atrocious crimes of the Assad regime and its backers.
Karimat Organization is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit charity that was established and licensed in Turkey in 2014. It has an office in Kilis that aims to empower and support Syrian women and protect their rights.
The Organization offers Syrian women socio-psychological, educational, cultural, and professional support with the aim of developing their skills so that they become able to independently support themselves and their families. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
