The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Committee to Monitor and Follow Up Iranian Interventions held a workshop on the subversive role of the Iranian regime in Syria and its impact on the situation on the ground and the political process.
Participants included members of the SOC’s political committee, the General Assembly, opposition figures, researchers, and media activists.
Coordinator of the Committee, Fateh Hassoun, presented a periodic report on the violations and plans of the Iranian occupation in Syria. The report details the Iranian violations and interventions in Syria for the SOC’s offices, departments and specialized committees to address the impact of these interventions.
Coordinator of the Strategic Consulting Office, Ahmed Ramadan, stressed the importance of the report as it tracks all Iranian moves at the military and security levels as well as Iran’s attempts to influence Syrian society through the cultural and religious aspects that cover up the Iranian project in Syria.
Ramadan stressed that Iran uses multiple means to expand its influence in Syria, build a space for it in the region, rely on sectarian and foreign militias, and carry out large-scale demographic change operations.
The workshop included many discussions, inquiries and analyzes. Participants put forth a set of recommendations for countering the Iranian influence and eventually forcing all the sectarian militias out of Syrian territory. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
