Judges of the literary contest that the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) held in cooperation with the Free Aleppo University announced the names of the winners. SOC’s President Nasr Al-Hariri, VP Ruba Habboush, and Secretary-General Abdelbaset Abdullatif honored the winners during an official ceremony held to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Syrian revolution in Azaz, rural Aleppo.
Contestant Alaa’ Ali won the first place at the poetry category for her poem “Ten Years! What next?’ Poet Amin Abdel Hammadi came second for his poem “O Songbird!’ while poet Al-Mu’tasim Billah Al-Kilani came third for his poem “My Beloved Syria.”
Writer Ahmed Amin won the first place at the short story category for his story “Winds of the South,” while the second place went to writer Abdul Rahman Omar for his story “Is this Justice or Fate?” Writer Abdul Karim Layla came third for his story “A Lightning Visit After Forced Displacement.”
In the literary essay category, Lubaba Halima won the first place for her essay “You are the Most Sublime,” while the second place went to Alaeddin Yassin for his essay “Social Media and Pollution.” Mamoun Farouh won the third place for his essay “The Absence of Administrative Centralization in the Frameworks of the Syrian Revolution.”
The judges included professors Diaa Addin Qalish, Ahmed Al-Omar, Muhammad Korah, and Mahmoud Al-Mustafa from the teaching staff of the Free Aleppo University. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
