President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) Nasr al-Hariri, sent a letter to US President Joe Biden regarding the deadly attack that the PYD terrorist militia carried out against Al-Shifaa Hospital in Afrin earlier this week, and the brutal crackdown on peaceful demonstrators in Manbij.
Al-Hariri stressed that “ample evidence confirms the involvement of the PYD terrorist militias in hostile terrorist operations, in which explosives are used professionally, continuously and systematically, targeting civilians in opposition areas to disrupt efforts to build security, peace and stability in the region, and to divert attention from joint efforts in implementing the standards of the rule of law, and strengthening human rights.”
He said that the PYD terrorist militia is involved in systematic arbitrary arrest, enforced disappearance, torture, liquidation, assault on the people’s money and property, and in the recruitment of children.
Moreover, al-Hariri said that the PYD militia is using the weapons and funds provided by the international anti-ISIS coalition in attacks on civilians and their rights. He also said the PYD militia has so far failed to completely eliminate terrorism and its sleeper cells, and prevent the resurgence of ISIS.
He stressed that the fight against terrorism on the medium and long terms requires the adoption of partners on the ground from the people of the region, who are accepted by the local people. He reaffirmed the SOC’s readiness to cooperate in combating terrorism completely and within a comprehensive plan.
Al-Hariri called on the US to end military or political support for the PYD militia; restore the heavy weapons handed over to the PYD militia, which were used by them to commit massive and systematic violations of human rights.
He also called for forcing the PYD militia to withdraw from the towns of Tal Rifaat, Manbij and all Syrian regions. He stressed the need for direct intervention to release prisoners of conscience, and grant independent international human rights organizations access into secret and public prisons.
Furthermore, al-Hariri called for protecting the housing and property rights of absentees and residents, and impose a direct effective guarantee for the safe and voluntary return of refugees from the eastern region to their homes.
He also stressed the need for the launch of impartial international investigation into the violations of the PYD, holding those involved accountable and ensuring justice to the victims. He also called for an end to racist and discriminatory practices imposed by the PYD militia.
Al-Hariri also called for protecting the oil wells and the wealth and resources of the Syrian people in the eastern region, and harness them to secure humanitarian aid to all Syrians in all regions.
He called on the US to adopt the SOC’s initiative to run the region by its people, in a manner that guarantees security and peace, and abides by international law. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
