President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem al-Meslet, received Chairman of the Syrian Emergency Task Force, Dr. Hashem al-Mubarak, and Member of the Syrian-American Community, Dr. Ammar Abu Ghudda. The two sides discussed the ongoing escalation and blockade that the people of Dara’a are being subjected to at the hands of the Assad regime and Iranian militias, as well as the latest on the ground and political developments in Syria.
Al-Meslet gave an overview on the latest developments in Dara’a and the SOC’s ongoing efforts to mobilize action by the major actors that would help stop the assault on Dara’a by the Assad regime and sectarian militias and lift the blockade on over 50,000 people in Dara’a city.
Al-Mubarak gave an overview on the efforts being made by the Syrian-American organizations to convince the US administration of the urgent need to stop the assault on the people in Dara’a.
The two sides also talked about the distinguished role of the Syrian Emergency Task Force with regard to the Caesar file, which resulted in the imposition of sanctions under the Caesar Act on the Assad regime and its backers.
Moreover, the two sides discussed prospects of further cooperation between the SOC and the Syrian-American organizations to serve our people and the Syrian cause in general. They stressed the US pivotal and essential role in advancing political solution in Syria and putting it on back on track in view of the Assad regime’s continued obstructionism of the political process.
Al-Meslet stressed the important role of the Syrian communities in the diaspora in making the voice of Syrians heard and in highlighting their cause and the demands of their revolution to the public opinion and decision making circles. He praised the efforts of the Syrian community and organizations in the US and their important role in communicating with civil and political leaders and pushing towards supporting the Syrian people and stopping the ongoing atrocities against them.
