Hundreds of people took to the streets on Sunday in the rebel-held towns and villages in Aleppo and Idlib provinces to reaffirm the revolution is continuing against the Assad regime and against those who deviate from the goals and guiding principles of the revolution. Demonstrators made it clear that just as they stood against the tyrant of Damascus, they will stand up against those who follow in his footsteps.
Dozens of demonstrators gathered in Jamiyat Alqahrubaa district in western Aleppo to demand that Hai’yat Tahrir Alsham (HTS) release a civilian the group has detained and to stop intervening in everyday life of civilians.
Members of the Revolutionary General Assembly of Aleppo, the Aleppo Free Lawyers Association, and members of the local and provincial councils also participated in the demonstration.
In rural Idlib, dozens of civilians demonstrated in the town of Maarat Alnouman demanding that HTS militants leave the town. Waving the Syrian revolution flag, the protestors called for the return of Sheikh Ahmed Alwan, head of the Sharia court in the town to his work after HTS forced him to resign.
On June 11, Maarat Alnouman witnessed big anti-HTS demonstrations in response to attacks by the armed group on the headquarters of FSA-affiliated Division 13 in the town. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department + Smart News Network)
