The Syrian-Turkish Joint Committee held a meeting with Atay Uslu, the Turkish Parliament’s Refugee Rights Committee in the presence of the Committee’s Coordinator, Ahmed Bakkoura, and the Committee’s Communications director, Inas Al-Najjar to discuss the reality of Syrian refugees in Turkey, their legal status, and the challenges they are facing at the legal and societal levels.
Bakkoura highlighted the major challenges facing the Syrian refugees and the measures that can be taken to improve their legal conditions, facilitate their living conditions and overcome the obstacles they face in their daily lives.
The meeting also addressed the laws regulating the affairs of refugees in Turkey, the possibility of taking new procedures and drafting laws that would tackle the challenges facing refugees, and the importance of consultation in this context.
For his part, Mr. Uslu stressed the importance of joint cooperation, especially since his Committee is tasked with proposing laws regulating the lives of refugees in the country. He pointed out that they have a new plan to organize the affairs and conditions of refugees at the legal and social levels, communicate with their various segments in Turkey, identify the major obstacles facing them, and trying to find effective solutions to them.
