Coordinator of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Al-Jazira and Euphrates Committee, Abdelbaset Abdullatif, presented a report to the political committee on the recent visit to the areas of Ras al-Ayn in rural Hasaka and Tal Abyad in rural Raqqa.
Abdullatif spoke about the living, services and security conditions in the region, pointing to a clear improvement in terms of security and services. He indicated that the living conditions are still difficult due to the siege imposed on the two areas and the inability of the population to afford basic materials for their work.
Abdullatif pointed out that the majority of the local population depend on agriculture and livestock, adding that they are in dire need of fodder and fertilizer in order to continue their work and improve the economic reality of the region.
He stressed the need to communicate with all countries and donors in order to secure support for the region and lift the siege, meet the needs of the population, and provide them with urgent humanitarian aid.
He also pointed to the need for cooperation with the Syrian Interim Government and for incorporating representatives of local councils in the Al-Jazira and Euphrates Committee in order to enhance cooperation, coordination, and better serve the region.
