Abdullah Kaddo, a member of the political committee in the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), has asserted that PYD militiamen and their actions are fueling a crisis leading to new waves of refugees from Syria. This stems from their persistent adoption of repressive practices, including mass arrests, torture, forced recruitment, manipulation of education and restrictions on the population.
Kaddo highlighted that despite the PYD leader’s commitment to cease and prevent the recruitment of child soldiers in Geneva in 2019, the forced recruitment of children and the kidnapping and enlistment of minors persist.
He emphasized the significant responsibility resting on the United Nations and the parties supporting PYD militants to exert necessary pressure, urging them to intervene and halt the continuous crimes and violations committed against civilians.
