Member of the Syrian National Coalition and former head of the Syrian Interim Government, Jawad Abu Hatab, stressed the importance of stepping up support for preliminary and university education in the liberated areas, pointing to severe shortages in qualified teaching staff in all educational institutions in the liberated areas.
Abu Hatab said that there is a stressing need for qualified teachers in the educational institutions, pointing out that some of the subjects in the Faculty of Medicine at the Free University of Aleppo are being remotely taught by professors who are based in several countries, including the United States.
Abu Hatab added that the first batch of students will soon graduate from the Faculty of Medicine. He pointed out that there are about 30 students in the sixth year and 60 students in the fifth, adding that the faculty currently has about 700 students. The faculty on Tuesday conducted standardized admission tests for 442 students.
“The future of Syria depends on the success of our work in universities and our management of education,” Abu Hatab said, pointing out that SIG’s institutions in the liberated areas are in dire need for university graduates. (Source: Syrian National Coalition’s Media Department)
