The Special Forces of the Syrian National Army’s (SNA) Second Corps carried out military exercises in the outskirts of the town of Afrin in Aleppo province on Monday in the presence of the Syrian Interim Government’s Minister of Defense and SNA’s Chief of Staff Major General Salim Idris, Commander of the SNA’s Al-Hamzat Division Saif Abu Bakr, and a number of field commanders.
The maneuvers went successfully and saw the participation of around 500 SNA fighters who received special training over the past few months. They involved the firing of mortar shells and heavy machine guns and climbing a steep hill to eliminate a target.
Major General Idris supervised the maneuvers after field commanders gave a detailed explanation of the stages of the maneuvers and their objectives.
The drills came as part of the SNA’s efforts to raise the combat readiness of its units so as to achieve coordination and harmony among the SNA’s units during the upcoming military operations.
The move came to confirm the determination of SIG’s Ministry of Defense to establish a professional national army meeting the international military standards and working to improve security and stability in the liberated areas. (Source: Syrian National Coalition’s Media Department)
