Violent clashes broke out in the town of Zakiya in Rural Damascus on Thursday, after a young man was killed by members of the Fourth Division of the Assad regime.
The incident occurred after the Fourth Division terrorized the young man and shot him, preventing his family from helping him.
The clashes between the people of Zakiya and the Fourth Division resulted in the burning of a headquarters belonging to the division.
The people of Zakiya said that the clashes were the latest in a series of transgressions and violations committed by Assad’s forces in the town.
These violations have included encroaching on civilians’ livelihoods and businesses, seizing property after accusing their owners of false charges, and assassinating civilians by setting off terrorist bombings or killing them with direct bullets.
Zakiya is one of the areas that joined the ongoing uprising in southern Syria against the Assad regime.
