Activists in rural Damascus said that at least 19 civilians were killed and dozens more injured in aerial and ground bombardment on eastern Ghouta on Sunday. Russian and Assad regime air raids on civilian areas have increased dramatically in the last 24 hours, with concentrated strikes on Douma, Harasta, and Hammouriya.
Six children, all under the age of five, were killed and nine others injured by regime mortar fire that hit their kindergarten in Harasta, near Damascus on Sunday.
Four civilians were also killed and dozens more wounded in airstrikes on the town of Douma, while eight civilians, including four children and three women, were killed in attacks on the town of Hammouriya.
Airstrikes and artillery shelling by regime forces also hit the towns of Arbin, Nashabiyah, Maidaani, Jisreen, Tal Farzat, Zreikiya in eastern Ghouta, killing one civilian in Maidaani and injuring many more.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) said that no fewer than 26 massacres were committed by the Assad regime and Russian forces during October, each carrying out 13 massacres.
According to a monthly report released by the Network on Sunday, the massacres committed by regime forces took place in the following areas: 6 in Rural Damascus, 3 in Idlib, and 1 in each of Dara’a, Hama, Homs, and Deir Ezzor. The Russian forces committed 9 massacres in Aleppo and 4 in Idlib, while the ISIS extremist group carried out 1 massacre in Hasaka province.
The rights group said that 381 people, including 123 children and 59 women, were killed in these massacres, which clearly indicates that civilians were the primary target of the Assad regime and Russian attacks. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Office)
