The Civil Documentation Center in the Houla area of northern rural Homs said it had documented the provision of more than 650 services for the local population every month.
The Center, which is run by the Ministry of Justice in the Syrian Interim Government (SIG), provides services to some 75,000 people in the rebel-held area.
Director of the Center lawyer Ali Sawah on Sunday told Smart News Network that there is a steady increase in the cases of documentation of civil affairs, especially after the Center began coordinating with local councils in the towns and villages of the Houla area to raise awareness among the civilian population of the importance of the documentation and preservation of their rights.
Sawah added that the Center provides services to the people of the area free of charge through lawyers and staff with expertise in civil affairs.
The services include registration of marriages, divorces, births, and deaths as well as the issuance of individual and family civil records.
The Center was opened in February 2016 in cooperation with the Free Homs Lawyers Syndicate and under supervision of SIG’s Ministry of Justice. Sawah noted that all the documents issued by the Center carry the stamp of the Ministry of Justice.
