Intensifying Russian airstrikes and heavy artillery shelling by the Assad regime’s forces have killed and injured dozens of civilians as well as displaced thousands of households from their homes in rural Idlib, local activists said Friday.
Activists said that eight civilians, including three children, were killed in Russian airstrikes on southern rural Idlib on Friday.
The Emergency Response Coordinators Team in Northern Syria said that the intensifying bombardment and shelling have forced at least 6,653 households comprising 36,588 people from their homes in Idlib province since the beginning of November.
The Team pointed out that the bombing campaign has killed 50 civilians, including 15 children, as well as caused massive damage to infrastructure in the region, including 29 vital civilian facilities and two ambulances since November 1.
The Team called on humanitarian organizations and the major actors to urgently provide shelter for the newly displaced people, calling on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities with regards to the crimes taking place against unarmed civilians.
