Activists in northern Syria called for demonstrations next Friday under the title “resistance is our choice,” to express rejection of any military action by the Assad regime forces backed by the Iranian terrorist militias and Russian aircraft against civilians in the province of Idlib.
Local news networks reported that calls were made to hold demonstrations all over Idlib province as well as in rural Hama and rural Aleppo. Activists and organizers of the demonstrations urged civilians to express their outright rejection of the entry of the Assad regime forces and their allied militias to Idlib province.
They pointed out that they would send messages to the international community and United Nations urging them to shoulder their responsibilities towards nearly three million people in Idlib and to stand against any military operation in the region.
Last Friday, demonstrations took place in most towns and villages in northern Syria rejecting any attack on Idlib. Demonstrators held signs that read “Idlib is our land, We will live and die for it,” and “the people want to overthrow the regime.”
Dozens of airstrikes hit towns and villages around the town of Jisr al-Shughour in rural Idlib on Tuesday. The Syrian Civil Defense said that the airstrikes killed at least 14 civilians and wounded 31 others, including children and women.
President of the Syrian Coalition, Abdurrahman Mustafa, stressed the need to protect civilians in Idlib and prevent any military operation in the region. He stressed that rebel fighters have an indomitable will to fight, warning the Assad regime and its allies that they will pay a heavy price if they go ahead with their plans for a major assault on Idlib.
Mustafa warned that a perfect storm is gathering over Idlib that will have “devastating consequences.” He said that the Assad regime and its allies are still pursuing a military solution and are seeking to wriggle out of commitment to a political solution.” (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
