ISIS militants has recently closed in on the rebel-held districts of the city, thus imposing a crippling siege on civilians and rebel fighters inside. “We are now trapped between the hammer of regime forces and the anvil of ISIS,” said organizers of the campaign. Activists called for lifting the siege and for making the suffering of the city the top priority among the media activists, stressing that the revolution is against error and crime, injustice and tyranny, and that the overthrow of the regime is one of these goals. They also stressed that “ending the current siege does not mean that the problem is over, but it is vital to address the root of the problem so that the blockade is not imposed again. Moreover, they raised the need for holding to account all offenders and criminals regardless of their affiliation and for reaching out to relief organizations to alleviate the suffering of people inside the city.
