Local activists in eastern Ghouta issued an appealed to stop the brutal bombing campaign that was launched by the Assad regime and Russian warplanes at midnight on Wednesday against the towns of Hammouriya, Saqba, and Jisreen. They said that the Assad regime and Russian air forces are using various types of internationally prohibited weapons in the bombings.
Local news networks said that dozens of civilians were killed in the intensive bombings of the towns of Hammouriya and Saqba, amid reports of attempts by regime forces to storm the town of Hammouriya from several sides.
Activists said that the fate of dozens of families became unknown after they tried to move to safer areas under a barrage of missile and rocket fire on the town of Hammouriya.
Activists in eastern Ghouta pointed out that the Russian air force is employing “scorched earth policy” in the Damascus suburb. They added that the bombings were unprecedentedly brutal and were targeting mainly the towns of Hammouriya, Saqba and Jisreen.
Activists warned of possible massacres by the Assad regime and Iranian militias against civilians trapped in underground basements.
